How to Choose UI Styles: Tell Confusable Design Directions Apart
Similar-looking UI styles solve different problems—compare pairs, boundaries, and fit before you brief AI.
When people use AI for UI, they often start with a single style word—minimal, clean, glassmorphism, brutalist, high contrast, soft UI. Convenient, but risky: many directions look alike yet behave very differently in real products.
A productivity tool can turn too soft. A lifestyle product can turn too cold. A page that must be easy to read can become “cool but unusable.” So do not only ask if a style looks good. Ask what product it fits, what problem it solves, and where its boundary is.

Second: how dense is the screen? More information means hierarchy and readability beat atmosphere.
Third: does the product need attitude or predictable completion? Creative brands can be bolder; tools should stay clear first.
